  • The Rain Tree (Samanea saman), also known as the monkey pod tree, is a large, sprawling tree native to Central and South America but widely cultivated in tropical regions around the world. Its name comes from the fact that its leaves fold during rainy weather, creating the appearance of rain falling from the tree. The tree is known for its massive, umbrella-shaped canopy that provides excellent shade, making it a popular choice for parks, gardens, and along streets. The Rain Tree produces small pinkish flowers and pods that contain seeds, which are often eaten by livestock. It's highly valued for its ability to grow in poor soil conditions and its fast-growing, hardy nature.
